We are conducting a search for a Benefits Assistant for a global civil construction firm.
This newly created role will provide support in development and administration of all global benefits for nationwide. This role reports to the Benefits Administrator and will be immersed in all employee-related benefits, primarily for U.S. benefit plans, and assist with the execution of our global benefit programs. The successful candidate must be a team player who is able to manage multiple priorities at once. The position is located in the Corporate Headquarters in New York City.

Position Summary:  Assists in all benefits department functions. Develops good client relationships and gives outstanding customer service.
Essential Functions

  • Assist Benefits Specialist with client renewals and new hire cases. 
  • Provides required forms to broker and coordinates the gathering of information with broker
  • Reviews employee enrollment forms and confirms enrollments for all employee
  • Reviews documentation for accuracy and completeness and secures any missing information
  • Sets up employee plans and plan elections in the payroll system and with plan carriers
  • Reviews invoices after renewal/new case for accuracy and makes any corrections within 30 days of effective date
  • Assist Benefits Reconciliation Specialist in resolving reconciliation discrepancies and making corrections with carriers and in the payroll system
Client benefit administrative functions as assigned which include servicing client accounts by:
  • Provides outstanding customer service.
  • Assists in the administration of client employee benefit plans including life, health, dental, vision, and disability insurance
  • Sets up employee deductions in the payroll system and with plan carriers
  • Processes status changes
  • Maintains vendor contact to investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations.
  • Responds to client and employee inquiries in compliance with State and Federal laws.
  • Provides carriers appropriate documentation for life, pension, and disability benefits claims.
  • Maintains employee benefit files in compliance with company guidelines
  • Additional benefits duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
  • Benefit administration or broker assistant experience preferred
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Highly organized
