Our client, a very successful Houston based retailer has engaged us to find a Technical Operations Lead in their Houston based offices.  This is a great opportunity in fast paced, successful, growing retailer.


Technical Operations Lead

 
Provides day-to-day technical support to employees for network infrastructure and server systems software and hardware. Installs, configures and troubleshoots desktop systems, servers and network issues in a heterogeneous environment. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
  • Perform systems administration of desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks. Desktop system management responsibilities involving account monitoring, security, Operating System (OS) installation, and other local area system administration related functions.
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Provide Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problem
  • Configure and manage Windows operating systems
  • Installs/loads operating system and application software
  • Troubleshoot, maintain integrity and configure network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
  • Integrate innovative technologies into new and existing systems including the transition and migration of corporate systems
  • A good understanding of routing protocols, QoS, traffic-shaping, Load balancing, VPN tunnels, WAN Optimization
  • Knowledge of Network security policies and firewall administration for Cisco and Fortinet
  • Understanding of multiple tool sets like Solarwinds and Microsoft Configuration Manager 2012
  • Responds to requests via the helpdesk in the most expedient manner possible.
  • Maintains servers, user accounts, file/print permissions as required for both internal and remote users.
  • Daily system maintenance review, such as systems log, antivirus server logs, etc.
  • Review daily backups.
  • Provides monitoring and reports of the operational status of LAN/WAN environment as needed.
  • Interacts with vendors.
  • Recommends the acquisition of new hardware and/or software as needed.
  • Ability to work independently to resolve complex problem
  • Familiarity with WINDOWS and LINUX operating systems
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities
  • Proficient is MS Office suite – Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Ability to work weekends and evening hours as needed
